Five On The Floor: Miami Heat/NBA

PJ Tucker is having a tremendous season for the Miami Heat, but where would he fits among the franchise's all-time role players.

Ethan Skolnick and Greg Sylvander go back in the annals, back before even Pat Riley arrived, for the 20 most impactful role players in Heat history, some of whom -- like Gary Payton and Ray Allen -- were stars elsewhere. Who's #1? Is it #40? Or #15? Or someone else?

The Miami Heat stayed atop the East by beating the New York Knicks, winning from wire to wire.

Tyler Herro returned from a Covid absence, and was energized, but he got plenty of help, from Duncan Robinson, PJ Tucker and others.

Greg Sylvander and Brady Hawk break it down, and look ahead to the end of the Heat's homestand.

Victor Oladipo worked out in front of the media Tuesday, and he sure looks like he's getting closer to a return from quad surgery. So, what does that mean for him, the Miami Heat and his teammates?

Ethan Skolnick is joined by Alex Toledo, Greg Sylvander and Brady Hawk to discuss Oladipo's past, present and near and long-term future.

Pulled from the Five Reasons YouTube channel, the hosts (Ethan, Alex, Greg) welcome 5RSN insider Adam Borai to debate whether the Miami Heat should stand pat at the trade deadline, or whether they should look for one more big move.

So, yes, a lot of Duncan Robinson conversation. And even some Tyler Herro.

On an evening that Jimmy Butler broke LeBron James' record for triple-doubles as a Miami Heat player, Duncan Robinson's hot home shooting helped the Heat survive a late Los Angeles Lakers rally... and take over the top spot in the East.

Ethan Skolnick and Alex Toledo, at FTX Arena, put Butler's accomplishment, and James's comments about him, into perspective in the first part of the episode. In the second part, they get into whether this Robinson revival is real.

Chris Herring, author of the new book Blood in the Garden: The Flagrant History of the 1990s New York Knicks, joins Ethan, Greg and Alex to share anecdotes about Pat Riley's time coaching the Knicks... and about why and how he left for the Miami Heat.

There's stuff you've likely never heard, about a decision that shaped the next quarter-century for the two rival franchises.

No Kyle Lowry. No Tyler Herro. And, after an odd ejection, no Jimmy Butler.

So it was left to Bam Adebayo and the Heat defense -- led also by PJ Tucker, Gabe Vincent and Caleb Martin -- to carry the Heat home. They did, beating the Blazers.

Ethan Skolnick, Greg Sylvander and Brady Hawk discuss the win, which was a matter of aggression... and trust. This looks like a June team.

The Miami Heat are in position to be the top team in the Eastern Conference, even after all their injuries.

But can they replicate the success of the team from two seasons back, that rallied from a fifth seed to the NBA Finals? Are they better than the squad with Jae Crowder, Kelly Olynyk and others? Are they more... fun? More fun than the Jimmy Butler, Goran Dragic bromance even?

Bam Adebayo was back, and he helped the Miami Heat beat the short-bench, long-armed Toronto Raptors on Monday. But what showed most was how much deeper the Heat have become in his absence, and how that might benefit all.

Ethan Skolnick and Alex Toledo were at FTX Arena, and they discuss Tyler Herro's improvements, Jimmy Butler's triple-double, and the situational depth provided by Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin and others.

As we anticipate the return of Bam Adebayo from a significant thumb injury, we ask this question: What are we most anxious to see?

For Brady Hawk, it's the schematic adjustments. For Greg Sylvander, it's perhaps a final shot for Duncan Robinson, now that his DHO partner is back. And for Ethan Skolnick, it's something else entirely.

It took a little from a lot of guys, after a disastrous defensive second quarter, but the Miami Heat ultimately prevailed again against the Atlanta Hawks to win a seventh straight home game.

Jimmy Butler and Tyler Herro made the big shots late, but Omer Yurtseven, Max Strus, PJ Tucker and Caleb Martin also played big roles.

Ethan Skolnick and Greg Sylvander review a gutsy win, and look at some of the rotation issues ahead, as Bam Adebayo is closer to a return.

Caleb Martin, the two-way surprise of the Miami Heat season, joins Ethan Skolnick, Alex Toledo and Brady Hawk to discuss his breakout season, as well as his preferred Heat fishing partners, his new nickname, his Jimmy Butler simulations and practice battles, and more.

#MiamiHeat #NBA

After a slow start, the Miami Heat rolled past the Atlanta Hawks in the first of a home-and-home set, a game which again showed the dynamic impact of Tyler Herro off the bench. But it wasn't just Herro -- Dewayne Dedmon also returned and provided solid play.

Ethan Skolnick, Greg Sylvander and Alex Toledo look at the improving combination of Herro and Duncan Robinson, and the backup center situation as Omer Yurtseven continues to impress.

When the Miami Heat signed PJ Tucker, most people knew the team was getting a selfless defender who set good screens.

But Tucker has been more than that. Erik Spoelstra has unlocked the veteran's offensive versatility as well, to the benefit of the Heat.

Alex Toledo and Brady Hawk join Ethan Skolnick to outline all that Tucker has offered on offense and defense, as the Heat's unheralded but essential starter.

After a stirring, stunning win against the #PhoenixSuns, the Miami Heat are now 9-3 against the better teams in the NBA.

Why?

Greg Sylvander has some reasons, and Ethan Skolnick and Brady Hawk have some perspective on them. Hint: this is an Erik Spoelstra masterclass.
